Play Pictionary In The Dark On Your Next Camping Trip

Looking for something fun to do on your next camping trip? Grab your headlamp or a flashlight as well as your phone for a fun nighttime game.

Can you guess what we drew?

DSLR

If you lugged your DSLR with you, set the ISO sensitivity as low as you can (usually 100), your aperture to it's widest, and set the exposure for something 30 seconds or longer (you might have to play around with this to find the best result). Now prop up your camera towards your artists and while they light themselves with their flashlight, you can focus on them to make sure their work will be in the final photo.

iPhone

Download the free app LongExpo (there may be other fun apps that will do this as well for both iOS and Android. Search for "Long Exposure" in your app store.), go into settings and choose "Light Trail". Now the tricky part will be to stand the phone up against something stable while pointed at where your talented artists will be creating their masterpiece.

Now, either set up a timer for the DSLR or iPhone or have one person hit the trigger while the other one paints. Once the photo is taken, everyone will have to guess what they drew. Any guesses what we drew above? A campfire and a portager. It's harder than it looks! Don't forget that you can turn your flashlight off and then back on again to start a new drawing and not have them be connected by a line. This is great for spelling out words.

Have fun and be sure to send in any light trail drawings you made!
