The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, recently announced investments totalling more than $21 million in several Parks Canada sites across southern New Brunswick. While the Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site will see rehabilitation work, Fundy National Park will have the biggest changes.

“With these projects, our government is both creating jobs locally and taking action to ensure our treasured places are protected and preserved for future generations. Through these infrastructure investments we are ensuring continued support for local economies, while preserving our historic places and national parks across the country”
-The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada

The funding will help Fundy National Park create...

  • Convert 26 unserviced campsites within Point Wolfe Campground into serviced campsites with both electricity and water service.
  • Rehabilitate Kitchen Shelters/Service Buildings, the Pool Bathhouse, and the Administration Building
  • Enhance the front country camping experience by continuing to convert un-serviced camping sites to 2 way sites (electrical and water). Parks Canada will also add 880 pits with branding (laser cut beaver), as well as 5300 new picnic tables.
  • Convert 10 un-serviced sites to oTENTiks
  • 10 additional oTENTik units within Point Wolfe Campground
  • Decommission of Roads and Trails in the Devil's Half Acre Area to restore the ecological integrity
  • Redesign and recapitalization of more than 40 kilometers of trails within Fundy National Park with an emphasis on those that connect to the Trans Canada Trail
