Goat Maps Returns!
Goat Maps launched back in 2024 as a lightweight but highly functional GPS app (which I really enjoyed using) but announced back in May of this year that it was shutting down. Well good news, Goat Maps has returned! While looking for a buyer, the original developer Jesse Crocker was picking and choosing as to who he thought would be the best to continue work on the app, which lead him to Nathan Cahill…
“I’m Nathan Cahill, a software engineer who has spent much of my career building outdoor mapping and backcountry navigation products, including Gaia GPS, Avatech, and later MountainHub, where we combined mapping and navigation with real-time conditions reports, hazards, and field observations.
I’m also a rock climber, ultrarunner, and cyclist so maps, routes, and GPS data are a regular part of how I spend time outside. The combination of building tools and relying on them myself is a big part of why I’m excited to take on Goat Maps and continue building for people who create their own path.”
Goat Maps is now back in the iOS App Store, download it and give it a try.
