Announcing: Canoe Route A.I.

“In my 30 years of tripping, never did I think a computer could plan a better trip than I could. Thanks Canoe Route A.I.” - Peter Marsh

We are so proud to finally unveil a project we have been working on for quite some time. Thanks to recent advancements we can harness the power of artificial intelligence and directly apply it to every canoeist’s dilemma… where to go and how to get there?

Just type in your favourite backcountry park and let A.I. plan your next adventure!

When you first start Canoe Route A.I. it’s going to ask you a few short questions and all you have to do is answer them for it to determine your perfect trip. Just fill in the blanks to move through the prompts as the engine gets to know you. Then after telling it how strenuous you want the trip to be, it will plan your entire route! It will highlight the put in, desired number of portages, points of interest, spots to fish, and if you give it your park log-in information, it can even book campsites for you! (Yukon and N.W.T. Parks still to come)

“Best topo maps I’ve ever used. I’ll never need to buy another map again.” - Trish Peterson

After your trip is booked Canoe Route A.I. will then generate a geospatial PDF of your entire trip which you can download and use in apps on your smartphone like Avenza. Better yet, print your own copy with the entire route highlighted. Large icons indicate portage access points, your campsite and even recent reports of hazards such as blowdowns or low water levels.

“I had the opportunity to beta test Canoe Route A.I. last year for an Algonquin trip and it was effortless. No more spending hours trying to plan a route!” - Maisy Hills
