There Will Be No 2020 Ontario Winter Camping Symposium
Some sad news during the COVID-19 pandemic… there will be no 2020 Ontario Winter Camping Symposium. Virtual or in-person….
“Well folks...I think you knew this was coming.
The possibility that we could put 400 people in a theatre this November has been pretty remote ever since the reality of what we are facing became apparent this past March.
But hope springs eternal....and so I have held off on making this announcement for a while now. I am sad to say that will be no Ontario Winter Camping Symposium this November.
It is just not financially possible to rent the space for a crowd less than say 200.... and that does not seem possible either now or in the foreseeable future. Liability insurance is an unknown as well....
I feel the thing that makes the Canoe and Winter Camping symposiums unique is the opportunity they provide for the “community” to meet and network. So unlike the April Canoe Symposium (which was cancelled at the last minute) I do not plan to present an online version of the OWCS.....there are already plenty of online outdoor podcasts and interview shows.
My hope is that we will someday be able to pick up where we left off, and gather together once again to share our love of Winter Camping.
