Camping Reservations For BC Parks Open For 2017

Camping Reservations For BC Parks Open For 2017

Ordinarily camping reservations for BC Parks open in March of each year, but one of their new changes to improve the system is to have reservations open today (January 2nd). Reservations for the 2017 season can be made four months in advance of an individual campground’s first reservable date.

We want to make sure the campsite reservation service is doing its job as effectively and efficiently as possible. We know British Columbians want a reservation system that is fair, and that they have just as good a chance of securing a campsite as the next person. The changes we’re bringing in for 2017 address policies that are prone to abuse by a small number of people and contribute to positive camping experiences in our beautiful BC Parks.
— Mary Polak, Minister of Environment

These changes are to combat overbooking (especially around long weekends), reselling of campsites and companies purchasing large blocks of sites. You will now have to provide one or two of the permit holder names (which can’t be changed at a later date), and at least one of those permit holders must be present for the duration of the booking.

To book your site, head over to BC Parks' Discover Camping website and be sure to check out the new FAQ if you have any questions.
