  • The device must have been on an active subscription plan before switching to Suspend

You will be able to still utilize the SOS feature on a suspended device. It’s worth while noting that the plan can be suspended for up to 12 consecutive months before the system automatically moves the device into the Enabled plan to preserve the SOS capabilities.

All in all, by the time you price out the inReach, a plan, and any other charges, having a suspended device for SOS may be cheaper that having an alternate solution such as a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB).
