Jim Baird: 11 Days Alone Through The NWT's Subarctic Backbone Ranges

Jim Baird’s latest video takes him through 11 Days, 350 kms ALONE Through the NWT's Subarctic Backbone Ranges…

“I spent 11 days paddling about 300 kms alone through the Backbone Ranges of the Northwest Territories, down four rivers through some of the most remote subarctic country I've ever seen. No roads, no towns, and no one to call if something went wrong. Just red mountains, deep canyons, cold water and a lot of time to think. The trip started with heavy rain, thunder and lightning that sent the river levels way up, and for the first stretch I was paddling a raging river on my own. Near the end, a wolf showed up on the second-last day, and then a bear encounter closed out the trip. This one took a lot to pull off, and I hope it gives you a real sense of how big and wild this corner of Canada is.”
