eTick Now Available To Residents of Alberta & Manitoba

eTick is a tick tracking app that launched in 2019, then expanded to Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland & Labrador in April 2020. Now, through a partnership with the government of Alberta, eTick is available to all residents of the province.

Not only does the app help with monitoring the distribution of ticks, but it helps to assess the risk of acquiring Lyme disease within the province.

eTick is incorporated into the Alberta submit-a-tick program. However, direct submissions of ticks from the public for testing to the Alberta public health lab are paused due to the current pandemic and should resume this summer if not before.

The Province of Manitoba also signed on as a partner to help Manitobans stay safe…

More and more Manitobans are exploring nature and the outdoors during the pandemic. While this is a safe, healthy way to connect during the pandemic, we also want people to pay attention to reduce their risk of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses. The eTick program will ensure people can access rapid tick identification and distribution maps, while enhancing the surveillance of tick species in Manitoba.
— Senior Care Minister Heather Stefanson

Download the eTick app now on both the App Store and Google Play and follow the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Canada, to prevent tick bites.
