Ontario Backcountry Camping Clothing Now Available

The Ontario Backcountry Camping Facebook group recently celebrated their 5th anniversary, and part of their celebrations was holding a contest to create a logo. Now that the contest has wrapped up, you can purchase the new logo over on The Trip Shed’s online store!

ANNOUNCING the release of our merch.

It's here!!! Made by you, for you.

You designed the logos, you chose the logos, you picked the colours. You made these shirts, and they’re just for you. And now your Tshirts are being hosted by an outdoor adventure company, The Trip Shed, owned and operated by members of this group, Aaron Savatti and Alexander Savatti. They're on a mission to connect people more deeply to themselves and each other through full nature immersion. They offer guided backcountry adventures, workshops, education programs, and quality camping gear. So shop local and check out The Trip Shed while you shop or visit their facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/thetripshed

I have decided to donate 50% of the proceeds to organizations that help to preserve our wild spaces, and in line with our community oriented philosophy, we will also decide as a group what organizations will receive our funds. We will begin with a goal of raising $1000 per charity. Once that amount is reached, we will donate our funds and then we will decide again what our next charity will be...if we can generate enough funds, that is, to keep the fundraising going. So let's see what we can accomplish together!!

I am going to nominate the Friends of Temagami as our first charitable cause, for several reasons. PJ Justason, a long standing member of this group, in addition to being a nurse on the front lines of this pandemic, also runs FoT in his "spare" time. He dedicated two days’ worth of prizes for the contests that gave birth to this merchandise idea. But most importantly, FoT has been working tirelessly since 1995 trying to preserve the largest virgin forests in North America located right in Temagami, a prime backcountry destination that desperately needs our protection. This merch is made by us; sold on a website by one of us; and I think it makes sense that we donate to one of us too, at least for the first round. I will be creating a poll soon to allow you to have your voice.

And if there’s a little money left over in the kitty, we’re going to roll it back into the group, give it right back to you in the form of prizes for some more of these contests! We had so much fun this week. If we sell enough shirts, maybe we can do this again once in a while! You can now buy your gear here, at The Trip Shed: https://thetripshed.ca/collections/ontario-backcountry-camping

If you haven’t joined the Facebook group already, I highly recommend it. It’s a fantastic place to ask questions and chat with other fellow campers and canoeists.
