Behind The Scenes Photos of 'The Portage' At 2014 Nuit Blanche Ottawa-Gatineau

Nuit Blanche Ottawa-Gatineau is a free all-night contemporary arts festival in Ottawa which runs from dusk to dawn (6:20 p.m. to 4:21 a.m.) on September 20th. This year, a Canadian icon, the canoe will be present outside the Cube Gallery (at 1285 Wellington West) as an art installation called "The Portage".

"Ottawa, a region where rivers meet was once a place of great danger. The falls and rapids of the Rideau, Ottawa and Gatineau Rivers were perilous obstacles travellers by canoe avoided, bypassed and portaged around.

The artistic duo Redcanoes - Rebecca Mason and Reid McLachlan - team up on this interactive multi-media installation that pays homage to the memory, tradition and spirit of both the portage and the most beautiful vessel ever invented, the canoe."

Here are some behind the scenes photos of Becky Mason and Reid McLachlan steaming and nailing ribs to their new exhibit...
