Experts Predict Mosquito Population Boom During 2020

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse (check out is2020over.com for more info), experts are claiming that there will be a mosquito population boom this year…

Even with the recent polar jet stream dropping snow throughout the Northeast, summer is still off to a bad start when it comes to mosquitoes. Overall, the warmer than average winter and wetter spring have created an early population spike for mosquitoes.

Here in Ontario we saw a slightly warmer winter that was on average 2 degrees Celsius warmer than normal. Combined with lots of precipitation it means that more mosquitoes are breeding. To make matters worse in the frontcountry, due to the COVID-19 pandemic more people are spending time outdoors in the backyard, local parks, or on their patios which means getting bit more often.
