Algonquin's "The Portage Store" Is Now The "Portage Outpost"
After 47 years of operating The Portage Store out of Canoe Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park, Sven Miglin and Vincent Ouimet had to decide what to do next when the park did not renew their contract. Instead of riding off into the sunset, they purchased the Algonquin Bound building just outside the West Gate (5280 HWY 60, Oxtongue Lake) and have opened the Portage Outpost.
With 47 years of outfitting experience as the heart, sweat and soul of The Portage Store, we have moved our operation and are pleased to offer Algonquin Park travellers with a new and exciting outfitting service at The Portage Outpost.
What is The Portage Outpost? Quite simply, a canoe-camping outfitters operated and staffed by awesome people dedicated to offering the best customer service at the best value.

We would like to thank all the customers and local businesses that have reached out to us and encouraged us to open up The Portage Outpost. They’re belief in us to provide a wonderful Portage Store experience at a new location help fuel our motivation.
