MEC Discontinuing Their MEC Mobile App

MEC launched a mobile app back in 2012 which allowed shoppers to browse Mountain Equipment Co-op’s stock with ease. Now they will be discontinuing the app on September 15, 2020.

“What do old hiking boots and the MEC iPhone app have in common? They both deserve a thank you for years of hard work before being retired.

That’s right: on September 15, 2020, we will be retiring the MEC iPhone app. We launched the app in 2012, before MEC had a mobile-friendly website. Since then, mec.ca has grown into a site with more features and a better design than the app (and now it’s definitely mobile-friendly). We plan to focus our efforts solely on mec.ca once the app is shut down.”

You will still be able to view items in your cart or Wishlist on Mec.ca, but this is disappointing. The app was so handy to look at things while on the go. The ability to look at Store Availability is even better than what the website currently offers.

Best of all, the app allowed you to have your membership card with you at all times. Now if you forget your card they will have to look you up by your telephone number each time.
