MSR Turns 50!

2019 marks MSR’s 50th Anniversary celebrating their beginnings in 1969 as a newsletter committed to improving mountaineering safety. They have come a long way since then to now offer a wide range of well made camping and mountaineering gear.

MSR's founder, Larry Penberthy, was an engineer, professional inventor, and lifelong mountaineer who dedicated himself to making the backcountry safer. Penberthy's goal was to make the best information and gear available to climbers - and when no one else was making what his standards required, he'd come up with it himself.
