Parks Canada Allowing Campers To Smoke Cannabis In Campsites

Here in Canada (While the rules do vary province to province), once smoking cannabis becomes legal on Wednesday (October 17th, 2018), Parks Canada will allow usage of it in campgrounds.

Consumption will not be permitted in campground common areas (such as playgrounds, kitchen shelters, washrooms, trails, or roads) and limited to the visitor’s campsite.

As for the backcountry?….

  • British Columbia: Yes

  • Alberta: Yes

  • Saskatchewan: No

  • Manitoba: No

  • Ontario: Yes

  • Quebec: Yes

  • Newfoundland: No

  • New Brunswick: No

  • Nova Scotia: Yes (although no smoking/vaping on or within 9 metres of trails)

  • Prince Edward Island: No

  • Northwest Territories: Yes

  • Nunavut: Yes

  • Yukon: No
