Path of the Paddle Grand Opening

Path of The Paddle, a 1,200km water trail that runs though North Western Ontario into Manitoba had a grand opening ceremony on August 26th. The event (held in Kenora, Dryden, Atikokan, Thunder Bay, and Omimi Trail) celebrated the Grand Opening of the Trans Canada Trail (TCT), which has developed the ‘longest recreational trail in the world’ to connect Canada Coast to Coast to Coast.

It is a completion of a great vision for both all of Canada and Northwest Ontario. Canoeing, kayaking, hiking and biking on our trail confronts the visitor with a wilderness of world-class beauty, with flora and fauna that can startle ones subconsciousness and calm the mind.
On this day, we, the people of the Path of the Paddle/Trans Canada Trail,
have completed a new national monument. Bon voyage!
— Ed Shields, Chairman of Path of the Paddle
