Paddling.net: Portage Etiquette

Just as there are rules of the road, there are rules of the trails. Some of them are...

• Give the party with the larger load, the right of way
• Keep your canoe and packs to the side of a put-in or take-out
• Leave no trace
• ... and since portaging is a social event, don't forget to say 'hello'
