While out on a photo shoot for an upcoming section of Trail Swag, I was sitting in my car and watching this silly Cardinal fly about. This male would land on the side mirrors of a parked car in front of me and then repeatedly hop down to take a look at itself in the mirror.

This didn't occur once or twice, but close to fifteen times on each side of the car. I figured it had to do with mating season, but it didn't seem to be doing much except admiring it's own reflection.

After researching it online, it looks like both the male and female Cardinals can be quite territorial during mating season and relentlessly attack windows for hours.... and here I thought it was checking out its cute little mohawk.
